Outspan Hotel - Nyeri

Outspan Hotel in the town of Nyeri was where the inimitable Lord Baden Powell, founder of the scouting movement, spent his final years.  This magical place is suffused with history, and has retained all its charm and appeal since it was built over 80 years ago. Lord and Lady Baden Powell cottage - Paxtu, is now a museum that is open to our visitors, and to scouts and guides from all over the world.

Outspan Hotel is close to the stunning Karuru Falls and set amongst manicured lawns and established gardens, you can delight at the roaming peacocks, marvel at the dancing by members of the Kikuyu ethnic community and try out one of the myriad on-site activities.

Outspan Hotel offers accommodation in 14 Chania Rooms, 3 Chania Cottages, 28 Standard Rooms -19 with fireplace. All rooms have Satellite TV, Telephones and Tea making facilities. All rooms feature satellite television, telephones and tea making facilities, and are set out in deluxe rooms, standard rooms and deluxe cottages.  The décor is comfortable and in-fitting with the old-style elegance of the establishment. At the Outspan Hotel meals are served in the dining room or on a wide verandah.

On-site activities at the Outspan Hotel include swimming in the pool or playing tennis and squash on the courts.  Golf enthusiasts can visit the neighbouring Nyeri Golf Club.  For cultural excursions, guests can visit the Paxtu Cottage – the final home of Lord and Lady Baden Powell which now serves as a memorial and museum.  Nature and wildlife lovers can take game drives in Aberdare National Park and guided nature walks along the River Chania.
